Where It All Started
It started the way most good things do — with a lake, a love of craftsmanship, and a question: what if you could hold your favorite place in your hands? Ryan Ulbrich grew up on the water in central Wisconsin, and when he got his first CNC machine, the first thing he made was a map of the lake he grew up on.
Word spread fast. Friends wanted one. Then neighbors. Then strangers on the internet. What began as a weekend hobby in the garage became Ulbrich's Woodshop — a full-time craft business built on the idea that the places we love deserve to be remembered beautifully.
Every piece is cut, engraved, and assembled right here in Wisconsin Rapids. No overseas manufacturing, no drop-shipping — just real wood, real craftsmanship, and a whole lot of sawdust.

How We Make It

Design
We source or draft precise topographic data for your lake or course, then build a clean vector design optimized for engraving.

Cut & Engrave
Our laser and CNC machines cut the frame and engrave the map detail into solid oak — depth, texture, and contrast all dialed in by hand.

Finish & Frame
Each piece is sanded, stained, and assembled in our shop. We inspect every sign before it ships.

Ship to You
Carefully packed and shipped within 1–2 weeks. Ready-to-ship pieces go out even faster.
